Mitigating Adversaries

This was one of our final projects. The brief was very open and gave us a choice of three topics to expand on. My chosen one for this was Mitigating Adversaries (Create a design that interpolates and mollifies the tension between two chosen adversaries – human, chemical, galactic, moral, philosophical or of any other dimension you chose.) I explored the tension between the real and the virtual.
My project consists of two parts; a short research book, which carefully outlines key points of the avatar and try’s to give the reader a better understanding of the virtual, and why so many of us chose to live within it. The other part is an interactive frame for the book that has 15 movable LCD screens within it, allowing the reader to try and figure out the changing puzzles. This also triggers the reader’s curiosity to pick up the book, as Avatars systems are so successful because of humans most basic instinct “play”.
